Last week I introduced you to my county, Derbyshire, and the Peak District.  Now I want to show you a particular area of Derbyshire, that is very special, not from the point of view of beautiful countryside, but from the historical aspect of textiles.

Just 8 miles from my home is Cromford Mill, in the heart of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, and  home of the first water powered spinning mill buit by Sir Richard Arkwright.

To give you a flavour of the history, the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site has produced a truly beautiful video which explores the whole of the valley.

… to where it begins…
